What is a Hydrosol?

A Hydrosol is the condensate water resulting from steam distillation of plant material. The distillation process is usually performed for the purpose of obtaining an essential oil and the Hydrosol is produced as a separate entity . Hydrosols are also called hydrolats, hydrolates and plant waters but the term “floral waters” can be a misnomer since Hydrosols are not always derived from flowers. Plant parts other than flowers such as stems, stalks, barks, roots and seeds can also be distilled into Hydrosols. Hydrosol extractions from pure plant material are like holograms in that within each drop of the Hydrosol a replica of the whole plant and all of its beneficial attributes are present.

Why use a Hydrosol on your skin?
